The Paradoxical Life – Audiobook Production at Offbeat Recording Studio Edinburgh
Is an incredible interpretation of The Bhagadavgita by Gordon Collins and beautifully narrated by his brother Raymond Collins.
We had the pleasure of producing and directing the audiobook at our Edinburgh recording studio on the Royal Mile, specialising in audiobook production for publishers and authors.
The Bhagavad Gita is a 700-verse Hindu scripture from the Mahabharata detailing a dialogue between Prince Arjuna and Lord Krishna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
Facing a moral crisis, Arjuna learns from Krishna about duty (dharma), selfless action (karma yoga), devotion (bhakti), and the immortality of the soul, guiding him toward spiritual wisdom. Author Gordon Collins sets out to interpret this ancient book in a way that offers inspirational explanations which are deeply moving and highly instructional.
Projects like this are part of our ongoing audiobook production work at Offbeat, our Edinburgh recording studio where we record and direct narration, voice artists and audio performances for publishers and independent authors.”

TEVIOT UNIVERSITY RE-OPENS WITH AN AUDIO GUIDE PRODUCED AT OFFBEAT RECORDING STUDIO EDINBURGH
Following a stunning £10 million renovation, Teviot University has re-opened this month.
The building has been closed since September 2023 while major works were carried out.
Offbeat Audio, our Edinburgh recording studio based on the Royal Mile, produced the new audio guide for the building which is now open to visitors.
Working with Sarah Stirton-Andrews from the University, we recorded and produced two voice artists for the project. The recordings took place at the Offbeat studio in Edinburgh and the production was completed over several weeks during January and February this year.
The project involved narration, music and sound design which we produced and assembled into a complete audio guide for visitors touring the historic building.
Offbeat producer Olivia Caw also provided voice direction for the students chosen to narrate parts of the guide.
Audio guide production is one of the many voice recording services we provide at Offbeat, working with universities, museums and cultural organisations from our Edinburgh recording studio.
PENGUIN RANDOM HOUSE AUDIOBOOK PROJECT RECORDED AT OFFBEAT EDINBURGH
Penguin Random House returned to Offbeat to record Stops Along The Way by US author Anna Sortino, narrated by Elizabeth Robbins.
The audiobook was recorded at our Edinburgh recording studio on the Royal Mile, where we specialise in audiobook production in Edinburgh for major UK and international publishers.
Direction came in live from New York via Zoom from Karlyn Daigle, with the session running smoothly despite the distance.
We worked with the same team on Anna’s previous audiobook On The Bright Side back in 2024, again with Elizabeth narrating, so everything felt familiar and well-paced from the start.
Remote direction is now a standard part of our audiobook production work in Edinburgh. With publishers and directors regularly joining from the US, the priority is always to keep sessions flowing naturally so the performance stays front and centre.
Elizabeth delivered a consistent, engaging read throughout, and it was great to welcome the Penguin Random House team back to Offbeat.

RIOT GAMES – VALORANT VIDEO GAME CHARACTER RECORDING AT OFFBEAT EDINBURGH
Isla Campbell was back at the studio recording her character Clove for the world famous video game Valorant by Los Angeles based video game company Riot Games.
The session took place at our Edinburgh recording studio on the Royal Mile where Isla recorded dialogue for the only Scots character in the game, Clove.
Working in conjunction with Liquid Violet at Keywords Studios in London, the video game character recordings were directed remotely from the United States with the production team monitoring the session live.
As usual Isla delivered class performances for the character, bringing the distinctive Scottish voice of Clove to the latest recordings for the game.
